These Terms & Conditions define the rules for using this website and for booking or requesting services provided, promoted or recommended through PortoTown.

By using this website, submitting a booking, making a payment or sending a request through a form, WhatsApp or email, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.


1. Who we are

This website is operated by PortoTown, a local touristic services brand based in Porto, Portugal.

PortoTown provides local food tour experiences in Porto and may also recommend or facilitate contact with trusted external partners for selected services, including accommodation, private transfers and Douro river cruises.


2. Services available on this website

Through this website, users may:

  • Book PortoTown food tours and vegan food tours
  • Request information about local experiences
  • Request information or availability for trusted partner services
  • Access recommended partner services, including accommodation, private transfers and Douro river cruises
  • Contact PortoTown by form, email or WhatsApp
  • Access external platforms, such as Airbnb or partner websites

Food tours and vegan food tours are PortoTown experiences.

Accommodation, private transfer / Uber-style services and Douro river cruises are provided by trusted external partners and are not directly operated by PortoTown, unless expressly stated otherwise.


3. Tour bookings

Tour bookings made through this website are subject to availability.

A booking is only considered confirmed when:

  • the required booking details have been submitted;
  • the required payment has been successfully completed, where applicable;
  • the booking has been accepted and confirmed by PortoTown or by the booking system.

PortoTown reserves the right to contact the customer if there is any issue with availability, payment, booking details or operational conditions.


4. Prices and payments

Prices shown on the website are displayed in euros (€), unless otherwise stated.

Payments for PortoTown tours may be processed through secure third-party payment providers, including SumUp or other payment systems.

PortoTown does not store full payment card details on this website.

A booking or request may remain pending until payment is successfully confirmed.

Prices, discounts or promotional conditions related to partner services are subject to confirmation by the relevant external provider.


5. Booking confirmation

After a successful tour booking and payment, the customer should receive a confirmation by email.

The customer is responsible for providing accurate contact details, including a valid email address and phone number.

If the customer does not receive a confirmation email, they should contact PortoTown as soon as possible.

Requests related to accommodation, private transfers or Douro river cruises are not automatically confirmed by submitting a form or WhatsApp message. These services depend on confirmation by the relevant external partner.


6. Customer responsibility

The customer is responsible for:

  • providing correct personal and booking information;
  • arriving on time at the agreed meeting point;
  • checking the date, time and details of the booking or request;
  • informing PortoTown of any relevant dietary restrictions, mobility limitations or special requirements before the experience;
  • following reasonable instructions provided by the host, guide, driver, partner or service provider.

PortoTown is not responsible for missed experiences caused by incorrect information, late arrival or failure to check booking details.


7. Meeting points and punctuality

Meeting points and times for PortoTown tours are provided in the booking details.

Customers should arrive at the meeting point on time. Tours and experiences may not be delayed for late arrivals, especially when other guests are taking part.

If a customer is late or cannot find the meeting point, they should contact PortoTown immediately by phone or WhatsApp.

For partner services, such as transfers, accommodation or river cruises, meeting points, check-in times, pick-up points or schedules are subject to the conditions confirmed by the external provider.


8. Food tours and dietary requirements

PortoTown food tours may include food and drink tastings.

Customers must inform PortoTown in advance of any allergies, intolerances, dietary restrictions or medical conditions that may affect participation.

While PortoTown will make reasonable efforts to accommodate dietary requirements when possible, it cannot guarantee that all dietary restrictions can be fully accommodated in every location.

Customers with severe allergies are responsible for assessing whether participation is suitable for them.


9. Vegan food tour

The Vegan Food Tour Porto is designed for guests looking for plant-based food experiences.

Although PortoTown selects vegan-friendly stops and food options, third-party venues may prepare food in kitchens where non-vegan ingredients are also handled.

Guests with allergies or strict dietary requirements should inform PortoTown before booking.


10. Private transfer requests

Private transfers, Uber-style services and personalised journeys promoted or mentioned on this website are provided by trusted external partners.

PortoTown may help customers request availability, contact the partner or receive information, but PortoTown does not directly operate the transport service.

Transfer prices may depend on distance, route, waiting time, number of passengers, luggage and specific requirements.

Information such as “from €1/km” is indicative and does not represent a final fixed price for every route.

A private transfer request submitted through the website, form or WhatsApp is not an automatic booking confirmation. The service is only confirmed after the external partner confirms availability, price and final details.

PortoTown is not responsible for delays, route changes, driver availability, vehicle availability, pricing changes, cancellations, accidents, losses, damages or any issues arising from the transport service provided by the external partner.


11. Recommended stay and direct stay requests

Accommodation promoted or recommended on this website is provided by a trusted external partner or host and is not directly operated by PortoTown.

PortoTown may provide information, link to an external Airbnb listing or help customers send a direct availability request to the host.

A direct stay request is not an automatic booking confirmation. Availability, price, conditions and final booking details must be confirmed directly by the host.

Any direct booking discount, including a 10% discount, is subject to availability and confirmation by the host.

When customers choose to book through Airbnb or another external platform, the booking is subject to the terms, conditions, cancellation policy and privacy policy of that platform.

PortoTown is not responsible for accommodation availability, pricing, house rules, cancellations, refunds, damages, guest-host disputes or any issue related to the accommodation service provided by the external host or platform.


12. Douro river cruises and partner experiences

Douro river cruises and other partner experiences promoted or linked on this website are provided by trusted external partners and are not directly operated by PortoTown.

PortoTown may recommend these services, provide links or share promotional information, but the final booking, payment, availability, cancellation policy and service delivery are managed by the external provider.

Customers should read the terms and conditions of the external provider before making a booking or payment.

PortoTown is not responsible for availability, schedule changes, cancellations, refunds, service quality, incidents, delays or any issue arising from services provided by external partners.


13. Partner services and external links

This website may include information, recommendations or links to trusted external partners, including accommodation, private transfers, Uber-style services, Douro river cruises, Airbnb listings and other local experiences.

These services are not directly operated by PortoTown unless expressly stated.

PortoTown is not responsible for the availability, pricing, booking conditions, cancellation policies, service delivery, content, privacy practices or performance of third-party websites, platforms or external providers.

Customers should read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of any external provider before making a booking, payment or request.


14. Cancellations and rescheduling

Cancellation and rescheduling conditions may vary depending on the service booked.

For PortoTown tours, customers should contact PortoTown as soon as possible if they need to cancel or reschedule.

Rescheduling is subject to availability.

Refund eligibility may depend on the type of service, timing of the cancellation, payment provider rules and any specific conditions displayed at the time of booking.

No-shows or late arrivals may not be eligible for refund or rescheduling.

For partner services, including accommodation, private transfers and Douro river cruises, cancellation, refund and rescheduling conditions are defined by the relevant external provider.


15. Weather and operational changes

Some PortoTown experiences may take place outdoors and may be affected by weather conditions.

Tours may operate in normal weather conditions, including light rain.

In case of severe weather, safety concerns, official alerts, operational issues or circumstances beyond PortoTown’s control, PortoTown may reschedule, adapt or cancel the experience.

If PortoTown cancels a confirmed paid tour, the customer may be offered an alternative date or appropriate solution.

Weather-related changes, cancellations or adaptations for partner services are managed according to the conditions of the relevant external provider.


16. Changes to services

PortoTown may adapt routes, stops, schedules, hosts, food tastings or partners when necessary due to availability, closures, weather, traffic, safety or operational reasons.

Any changes will aim to preserve the quality and nature of the PortoTown experience as much as possible.

Partner services may also be changed, delayed, cancelled or adapted by the external provider according to their own operational conditions.


17. Minimum participants

Some PortoTown experiences may require a minimum number of participants to operate.

If the minimum number is not reached, PortoTown may contact the customer to offer an alternative date, private option or other solution.


18. Behaviour and safety

PortoTown reserves the right to refuse participation or remove a customer from a PortoTown experience if their behaviour is unsafe, abusive, disruptive, intoxicated or disrespectful towards guides, hosts, partners, local businesses or other guests.

In such cases, no refund may be due.

Customers are responsible for their own personal belongings during the experience.

For partner services, customers must also comply with the rules and instructions of the relevant external provider.


19. Website information

PortoTown makes reasonable efforts to keep website information accurate and updated.

However, content such as prices, availability, schedules, routes, partner information and service details may change without prior notice.

In case of discrepancy, the details confirmed directly by PortoTown or by the relevant external provider at the time of booking or communication will prevail.


20. Intellectual property

All content on this website, including text, images, design elements, logos and branding, is protected by intellectual property rights unless otherwise stated.

Users may not copy, reproduce, distribute or use website content for commercial purposes without prior written permission from PortoTown.

Images, logos or content belonging to external partners remain the property of their respective owners.


21. Limitation of liability

PortoTown is not responsible for:

  • incorrect information provided by customers;
  • delays, missed experiences or no-shows caused by the customer;
  • third-party service failures;
  • external website content or booking platforms;
  • loss or damage to personal belongings;
  • partner service availability, pricing, cancellations or refunds;
  • issues arising from accommodation, private transfer or Douro river cruise services provided by external partners;
  • events outside reasonable control, including severe weather, transport disruption, strikes, closures, accidents or force majeure events.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes liability where such exclusion is not permitted by applicable law.


22. Privacy and personal data

Personal data submitted through this website is processed according to our Privacy Policy & Cookies.

Please read our Privacy Policy & Cookies page for more information about how we collect, use and protect personal data.

When customers use external platforms or partner services, their personal data may also be processed by those external providers according to their own privacy policies.


23. Complaints

If customers have a complaint or concern related to a PortoTown service, they should contact PortoTown first by email:

PortoTown will make reasonable efforts to reply and resolve the matter.

For complaints related to partner services, including accommodation, private transfers or Douro river cruises, customers may need to contact the relevant external provider directly.

Consumers may also use the official Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico, where applicable.


24. Alternative dispute resolution

In the event of a consumer dispute, customers may seek alternative dispute resolution through competent consumer dispute resolution entities in Portugal.

The European Online Dispute Resolution platform has been discontinued as of 20 July 2025.


25. Applicable law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Portuguese law.

Any disputes arising from the use of this website or PortoTown services shall be handled according to applicable Portuguese and European consumer protection rules.


26. Changes to these Terms & Conditions

PortoTown may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The updated version will be published on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
